Just fell in love with this designer’s typo/graphic posters and clicked to see how much & where they are sold… and was sent here: http://www.harmonie-interieure.com/
which I blogged about in August, in the days leading up to the Polaroid show.
Small world. Interworld.

Why does this feel like a deja vu post? Have I dreamt about posting something like this? Oh god. Have I dreamt about blogging?

Not sure why that list made me laugh — but it did. Which one do Cryptic-Canadians choose? Or Canadian-Universalists? {It’s 2 and I’m just having my first coffee – so …}
Sadies show was pretty great, minus a few punch-facers in the crowd. {That girl who alternated between boyfriend groping and attempts to get everyone to do that obnoxious raise-the-roof thing; that guy who was dancing like a seizure for EVERY song, even the slows; and the girl with the smelly leather purse on her bony shoulder that she kept jabbing me with and pretending nothing–what?—nothing was going on; and lastly– cellphone-picture-taking guy– he must have one hell of a collection of blurry bands on the bug jar stage by now}. Otherwise, good times. I’m getting to old to go see bands on Weekend (read:sad pick-up) nights. Or too lacking in patience.
I DID find out one of the Sadies are from Hastings, ON (My mom’s hometown, right down the hwy from Campbellford), which explains the show in C’ford next Saturday.
“The Weakerthans? Nah, those guys are wimps. You can tell ‘em I said that.”

I wish I was 17 and could still get away with quoting my favourite lyrics in my artist statement.

Like candy corn and licorice, Like bubble gum and Swedish fish
September 27, 2008 · 3 Comments
October is officially here when I have my first candy corn sighting, or sounding, as it were.
Working on my neighbour book and listening to new music, I heard a reference to candy corn and swedish fish. Two references that took me back in time one year, and five months, respectively.
The candy corn brough me back to my first trip to Tops, on Winton Rd, c. fall 2007. Looking for veggie burgers and dessert, we came across the most perfect fall cookout sweets: a brownie cake covered in candy corn.
The swedish fish lyric threw me into late April, 08, sitting in the green room at school, talking with Lisa about her thesis, artist’s statement, and so on. Boxes of swedish fish and whatever the American version of Goodies are called were being thrown about in the midst of heady discussions on verbiage and art theory.

Why, when I have more stuff on my plate than I can handle, do I agree to do more?
Why can’t I finish everything I start?
Why do dumb things get done when everything else waits til the last second?
Why am I bloggin about all the stuff I haven’t done, rather than just buckling down and doing it?

As a non-citizen, this guy’s thoughts on skilled worker visa issues has a place in my heart. And head.

And on a completely different note, so I don’t dwell too much on the forces that are out of my hands, causing understated instability in any type of future plan south of the 49th parallel for this one, here’s a link and a photograph:

(one of my favourite Toronto street photographers)
I’m pretty excited to be in the Toronto-vicinity for the month-long Contact photography festival. I have missed it every year since 2002 for various lame reasons.
Now I just need to find a couch to crash on and a train ticket.
