In sixty days, I’ll be back in my home & native land (“arrhomeanatiflaaaaand” -robyn singing O Canada, c. 1986) and there is a lot of stuff this stuffmaker is gonna miss about my adopted home in upstate (or western, depending on your audience) NY.

Number one, in no particular order:

The news from Lake Wobegon with second pot of coffee, staring at my computer screen and watching peripheral Oxford street from my second story window.

I was complaining about the sudden ubiquity of Mrs. Eaves (really *pretty* serif typeface), and yes, it was one of those indie-snob complaints that might be better placed in HIgh Fidelity music-dork territory than font-dork territory.

And now –Zuzana Licko at Emigre brings us — MR. Eaves! He’s pretty too, but hopefully not so distinct that he stands out in a crowd. A strong, silent, slightly dickish Don Draper typeface.

Here is the Craigslist ad I posted at the beginning of September:

Hello realtors and building owners,

Are you having trouble filling your rental space? Does it have a street facing storefront? You need to give it some curb appeal!

I am a student and artist who makes photographs of vintage, historic, interesting architecture and social landscapes.
I am available to cover your rental space walls with professionally framed photography while the property waits for a new tenant. For no charge. Yes, I said no charge.

My only request would be to hold a small opening reception in the space and have it open to the public for 5 days. I would sit in the space and show it off to anyone interested, in the art or the square footage.

I could install the work anytime after November 1st.”
